Gov. Jindal tours St. Bernard Parish on Tuesday

 

Gov. Bobby Jindal addressed St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro
Jr. and the St. Bernard Parish Council at its meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 16
after visiting the parish's food stamp distribution center established to
aid storm victims. 

 

The governor, who also visited St. Bernard immediately after Hurricane
Gustav, said he is fighting for coastal restoration money to help reduce the
impact of hurricanes on the state's coast and noted St. Bernard's tenacity
in the face of the storms it has faced.

 

Gov. Jindal had an impromptu meeting with President Taffaro and  Chief
Deputy Sheriff James Pohlmann on a bus going to visit the Disaster Food
Stamp registration area in Violet on Tuesday. 


President Taffaro and Chief Deputy Sheriff Pohlmann met with the governor
and thanked him for the resources committed to the parish during and in the
aftermath of recent storms, including the National Guard and State Police,
which they said have worked well with parish government and the Sheriff's
Office.
