One killed in St. Bernard car crash

One person died in a two-vehicle car crash Friday night in St. Bernard
Parish.

About six and a half miles east of Paris Road on St. Bernard Highway, two
cars collided "virtually head on, " about 8:30 p.m., according to the St.
Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office.

Three others were injured -- one critically. That person was transported by
helicopter to a local hospital.

No information was immediately available regarding the identity of
passengers and drivers in two SUVs.

An observer at the scene, near W. Smith Elementary School on the two-lane
highway, reported that one of the vehicles had a Louisiana license plate and
the other a Texas plate.

Louisiana State Police, Troop B is investigating the incident.
