Why do some peope always seem to sound jealous because they FEEL we are well
off, having gotten insurance, rebuilt our home OURSELVES and have a few
dollars on the side (not that it really matters with today's economy).
Former neighbors were constantly saying we were rich because we were able to
rebuilt our house.  Far from it !  Were we at fault because we had flood
insurance & you didn't or didn't have enough ?  Road Home paid you for the
diffrence between what your insuarnce paid & $150,000.  I paid for my
insurance & the difference was offset.  So, those who didn't have insurance
or only a little, fared out better because you didn't pay premiums for years
& still got compensated.  We have a few dollars on the side because we chose
to do the rebuildng ourselves, except for those things that required
licenses.  A year of our lives was given up to accomplish this. We paid off
our mortgage & used the difference for rebuilding.  And we didn't go with
the best, as I know a few people did.  We settled for white bathroom
fixtures versus a  color to save the $700.00 difference just for the
bathtub.  And you want to know the best part. ? I would give back those few
dollars & the "well off" status to go back to August 28, 2005.  I would
prefer to be living day to day & have my friends and neighbors back in my
(to me) perfect neighborhood.  I would love to be worshipping back at St.
Mark again.  I would prefer not to be "well off ".

FYI - I know Debbie and Steve Rosenberger for years.  JER, Why do you always
see the glass half empty?
 
Steve is a skilled worker that has recovered from several accidents and has
worked hard to get their residence rebuilt.  His wife worked for a
corporation for 20 years that decided to move out of state but they both
still wanted to call this parish home and stuck it out.
 
Well off?  What a joke. They are hard working people that let the love of
our parish guide them through some very very rough times following Katrina.
 
How dare you judge people that you don't know? Especially publicly on this
digest.
