St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro Jr., the Recreation Department
and the Parish Council will hold two ceremonies next week to celebrate the
progress at the football and soccer complex on the grounds of the former
Hannan High School in Meraux.

There will be a Soccer Season Kick-Off and Lighting Ceremony Thursday, Feb.

the fields, the 5- and 6-year-old boys and girls will play the first game of
the 2009 season.

On Saturday, Feb. 28, at 9 a.m. there will be a Grand Opening Ceremony at
Hannan with music, a scheduled flyover and the dedication of the planting of
a Dogwood tree. The tree is being planted in the memory of Lindsay Gallo, a
former Hannan High athlete who died of cancer. The tree that had been
damaged since Katrina is being donated by the Civic Beautification
Association, a multi-parish group of garden clubs.
