A New Orleans man arrested on drug charges last month in Arabi is a suspect
in an Arkansas murder in which the victim was shot 23 times, St. Bernard
Parish Sheriff Jack Stephens said.

Shedric Williams, 32, 1643 Egania St., was arrested Feb. 27 and booked with
various drug offenses and with the attempted murder of St. Bernard deputies
who arrested him, authorities said.

Williams was delivering about $2,000 worth of heroin, crack cocaine and
marijuana to a location in Arabi when he was apprehended by members of the
Sheriff's Office's Special Investigation Division commanded by Col. Chad
Clark, authorities said.

Two New Orleans women, Cindy Cole, 28, 4023 Printiss St., and Jeanne
Anderson, 28, 2739 Dumaine St., were arrested with Williams and booked with
drug possession, authorities said. Both have been released on bond.

Williams and the two women were confronted by SID agents in Arabi the night
of Feb. 27 and nearly ran over three officers with their vehicle while
attempting to flee, the sheriff said.

They were caught a short time later. Williams, who is being held without
bond in St. Bernard Parish Prison, was booked with possession with intent to
distribute 7.7 grams of heroin, 1.3 grams of crack cocaine and a small
amount of marijuana, attempted murder of police officers, criminal damage to
sheriff's vehicles and other offenses, authorities said.

Upon hearing of the arrest, Arkansas authorities came to St. Bernard to
interview Williams and said he is their prime suspect in a murder in Searcy
City, Ark., in which a man was shot 23 times during an alleged drug deal,
Stephens said.

The slaying occurred in 2006 and Arkansas authorities have been trying to
locate Williams ever since. Williams has not yet been booked with the
killing, Stephens said.
