[StBernard] Free St Patrick's Day Dinner Dance at the Community Center of St Bernard

This year's St Patrick's Day celebration at the Community Center of St
Bernard will include a free dinner dance featuring a live performance
by musicians Glen David Andrews, Glen Joseph Andrews, Walter Harris,
Jeffrey Hill, and Matt Clark.  The evening will begin with a
traditional St Patrick's Day meal of corned beef and cabbage served
from 5 to 6:30 PM at the Community Center of St Bernard, 1107 LeBeau
St in Arabi, followed by music and dancing from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. 
 
An integral member of New Orleans' close-knit musical community, Glen
David Andrews was recruited into a brass band led by his younger
cousin, Troy Andrews, and has since played in both the New Birth and
Treme brass bands, among others. Andrews's versatile style includes
the best of the contemporary sounds of today's brass bands while
honoring the tradition of such legends as Anthony "Tuba Fats" Lacan,
Louis Armstrong and Jelly Roll Morton.	

Glen David Andrews has appeared in the documentary "Shake the Devil
Off", which chronicles the post-Katrina struggles of St. Augustine
Church, founded in Tremé in 1841 by slaves and free people of color.
His moving trombone rendition of "I'll Fly Away" provides a powerful
emotional call-to-action at the film's climax.

Andrews's musical talent is also featured in "When the Levees Broke: A
Requiem in Four Acts”. At the fim's end Andrews holds his horn at his
side and sings	"I'll Fly Away", with the last verse poignantly
changed to "New Orleans will never go away" at director Spike Lee's
request. Glen David Andrews's most recent album is the just-released
"Walking through Heaven's Gate", a love gospel CD recorded in the
historic Tree neighborhood on November 18, 2008.

The St Patrick's Day Dinner Dance is sponsored by the New Orleans
Musicians Clinic, the Louisiana Family Recovery Corp, and Nobles &
Greenough School of Dedham, MA. The dinner dance is free to the
