storing waste in the Chalmette Truck Yard via the waste trucks??

The owner of SDT Waste and Debris says that one of the company's portable
waste trucks was stolen from its premises late Saturday night and may have
been pictured with a hose pipe into a storm drain in the Lower Ninth Ward. 


 
Sidney Torres said the company's video cameras at its yard in Chalmette and
GPS devices on the vehicle showed it being taken from the yard illegally
after hours, making a stop at the intersection of Alabo and North Johnson
and then being returned to the front of the truck yard. 

Eyewitness News received a copy of a tape early Sunday that seems to show an
SDT truck with a hose pipe going into a storm drain. 

SDT provided Eyewitness News with a video showing the truck leaving its yard
after hours without permission. 

Torres said he isn't sure who took the truck, but that no drivers were
schedule on at that time. 

"We found out about 10:30 (Saturday night) that there was a truck taken from
our yard that was not authorized, and was taken to the city and was dumped.
We tracked it and someone took the truck that was not working." 

Torres said he feels he is being set up. 

"I know I was set up," he told Eyewitness News. "Everything done in the
past, issues in the park, somebody set me up. They have called television
asking to be paid for this tape." 

The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office confirmed it was contacted about an
incident at the SDT yard and is investigating. The company issued a press
release saying it was offering a $10,000 reward for information about the
theft and alleged dumping. 

Eyewitness News did a special report last year where an SDT truck was
followed and allegedly dumped raw sewage at a drain in City Park.
