Next one will be this Thursday, April 16th at 6:30 p.m. at Sebastopol
Plantation

St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro Jr. is continuing to hold a
series of one-hour Community Forums. His next one will be Thursday, April
16th at Sebastopol Plantation, 721 Bayou Road in St. Bernard.

Alberta Lewis, the owner and operator of Sebastopol, is opening the
Plantation to the public at 5 p.m. to allow residents to visit prior to the
forum and enjoy Sebastopol Plantation's recent historic restoration.

Nearly 50 people attended the first forum held in February at PJ’s Coffee in
Chalmette. At that session, President Taffaro discussed the status of
infrastructure and public facilities projects, and he held a
question-and-answer session after the initial presentation.

The subsequent Community Forums will be held on Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30
p.m. on the following dates at these places:

* June 18th at Community Grill, 6617 W. Judge Perez Drive in Arabi.
* August 20th at Flour Power, 2101 Paris Road in Chalmette,
* October 15th at Christian Fellowship Church, 5816 E. Judge Perez
Drive in Violet.
* December 17th at WOW Café & Wingery, 1720 E. Judge Perez Drive in
Chalmette.

Sebastopol Plantation, the host site for this forum, is a one-story wood
frame Creole plantation house that was built in the 1830's by Don Pedro
Marin for production of sugar cane. The home is constructed in a cabinette
style, with the original wrap-around columned mantels typical of the period
of its construction. It sits on approximately 30 acres of land.

This private residence is available for visitation by groups and by
appointment. Afternoon Tea-Tour groups are offered on a regular basis, and
scheduling of private gatherings is welcomed.

Sebastopol Plantation is located on Bayou Road or LA 46, approximately 15
miles down river from Orleans Parish line. It is located about 1 mile above
the Islenos Museum. To request information, email
