Suspicious package at St. Bernard Parish refinery prompts investigation

Authorities responded to a report of a suspicious package this morning at a
fire station at the Murphy Oil refinery in St. Bernard Parish.

The Sheriff's Office, Fire Department and federal terrorism investigators
were called to the plant around 11 a.m. The Sheriff's Office bomb squad took
"disruptive action'' at the scene to make sure the package didn't harm
anyone, authorities said.

"We feel it's safe and secure,'' Chief Deputy Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
