[StBernard] Who Is Charlie Melancon?

A very unwise move for Melancon to try and take on Vitter. As I hear it,
Charlie's really not interested unless poll numbers show it would be an
"easy" win, but the poll numbers show he's got a steep, uphill climb to beat
Vitter. Plus, Charlie has made comments to imply he's "happy where he is."

It's a good move on Melancon's part to stay put in the House. Recent poll
numbers which I was made privy to show withing his own Congressional
district he'll get less votes against Vitter than what he would get running
for re-eelction. The reason for this is because the research shows that his
constituents are very knowledgeable of how he has voted along with Obama,
Pelosi and Reid - and they're extremely unhappy about it - but, they'll let
him stay as their House rep but not elect him to the Senate.

The Demwits think kicking up the old dust about Vitter and the D.C. Madam
will score points - WRONG!! The poll showed two-thirds of Louisiana voters
feel this issue is old and Vitter has done a solid, good job representing
Louisiana in the Senate - and that's since the D.C. Madam incident. Now,
add to Vitter's solid voting record Obama's approval rating in Louisiana
(which is in the toilet) and the constant ads you'll see educating voters of
Melancon's connection to Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the like. Personally, I
like my chances better at reaching the summit of Mt. Everest without using
an oxygen tank then Melancon defeating Vitter.

Vitter will convincingly say that it's not too late to stop the
Obama/Democrats spending bill and that a Republican majority can
stop/reverse the damage. Melancon cannot dare say that - not just because
his record shows otherwise, but if he did the Democratic Party would take
action against Melancon that would suddenly make him feel Jewish.

I'll play bookie here and give 8 to 5 odds to any takers on a Vitter
victory.

John
