Hospital configuration finalized
Members of the Hospital Service District (HSD) board and the
Project Management Team of Hammes Co. worked through Wednesday night
finalizing the configuration of St. Bernard Parish's new Hospital. The
plan, which provides over 100,000 sq. ft. of state-of-the-art medical care,
was hammered out at the meeting, which even included teleconferencing with
members of the hospital's architectural team in Memphis. Working into the
evening hours to move the project forward were HSD board members Wayne J.
Landry and George Cavignac, HSD board official advisors Dr. Bryan Bertucci
and Dr. Paul Verrette, and Hammes team members Tom Noble and Phil Wendling.
Mr. Landry, HSD Chairman, stated, "This meeting was critical to
finalize the design concept which will drive the completion of the
blueprints for our new hospital. It was extremely exciting to see the
enthusiasm displayed by our architect and project manager, as well as other
board members. Their willingness to remain at this meeting until the task
was complete -- even after coffee ran out - speaks volumes to their
dedication to the people of St. Bernard Parish." Mr. Landry also stated
that anyone who would like a copy of the layout which was finalized, or the
construction timeline, is welcome to obtain a copy by e-mailing him at
