Murphy oil unit is down for planned maintenance

Murphy Oil Corp. is shutting a platformer unit at its Meraux refinery today
for planned maintenance that will last several days, a company spokeswoman
said. 

"There will only be a minimal impact to normal operations in the meantime,"
the spokeswoman, Dory Stiles, said in an e-mail. Platformers produce
high-octane blending stock for the manufacture of gasoline. 

Murphy is also restarting a crude unit at the Louisiana plant following a
brief outage, Stiles said. Crude units heat and separate crude oil based on
the components' boiling temperatures. 

The refinery has a capacity of 125,000 barrels a day, according to data
compiled by Bloomberg.
