 "Sundays in the Park" Concert Series starts Oct. 18 in Torres Park 

St. Bernard Parish hosts popular event

 

St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro, Jr. announces that the St.
Bernard Parish Department of Parks, Recreation, Culture and Tourism will
begin its popular "Sundays in the Park" Concert Series starting Oct. 18 in
the Torres Park Amphitheater. 

 

The series will include several Sunday events for citizens to gather at the
Community Playground with family and friends, enjoying music while children
frolic in the playground. The playground is located behind the St. Bernard
Government Complex at 8201 W. Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette. 

 

The list of dates and performers are as follows: 

 

*               Sunday, October 18, 2009, from 4 to 6 p.m. Music by Julz
Secret.

*               Sunday, November 1, 2009, from 4 to 6 p.m. Music by At
Fault.

*               Sunday, February 28, 2010, from 4 to 6 p.m. Music by
Esplanade.

*               Sunday, March 14, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. Music by August
Rush.

 

In addition to these concerts, the grant already has funded three recent
concerts: August Rush at the Val Riess Grand Opening Celebration in
mid-August, Harvey Jesus at Torres Park for the Katrina Fourth Anniversary
Community Celebration at the end of August and the recently held an Evening
of Praise and Worship of local church choirs and praise teams in September. 

 

The concerts are sponsored by the St. Bernard Parish Government, St. Bernard
Parish Department of Parks, Recreation, Culture and Tourism and supported by
a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts as administered by the St.
Tammany Commission on Cultural Affairs
