Murphy refinery in St. Bernard Parish to test new alarm today, Friday

The Murphy Oil refinery in Meraux will test a new alarm system today and
Friday.

The testing will be conducted from noon to 1 p.m. and from 6 to 7 p.m. each
day, the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

The Sheriff's Office said residents living in Meraux and the eastern edge of
Chalmette shouldn't be nervous if they hear an alarm system going off
several times at the refiney today and Friday.

The plant will test its new alarm system several times between those hours
on both days as part of training, according to Carl Zornes, an official of
Murphy's Meraux refinery.
