Parts of St. Bernard go without power after student crashes into pole

CHALMETTE, La. - Parts of St. Bernard Parish are out of power on a cold,
nearly freezing night after a high-school student hit a pole while driving,
said St. Bernard Parish President Craig Taffaro.

Taffaro said the unidentified student is in serious condition at the
hospital. No information has been released about the student's identity or
what caused the crash.

Portions of Judge Perez Drive, Story Park, Francis Place, Deer Creek and
Maureen Lane are out of power due to the accident.

Taffaro said Entergy estimates the power to back up around 2 a.m.
