St. Bernard Parish officials pushed for recovery help in Washington DC:

Congressman Charlie Melancon addresses a group of about 150 federal, state
and local leaders at a breakfast hosted by St. Bernard and Plaquemines
parishes to tout the area's recovery and request further federal assistance.
In addition to Congressman Melancon, Sen. David Vitter and Sen. Mary
Landrieu also were recognized at the breakfast. Additionally, St. Bernard
Parish President Craig P. Taffaro Jr., Parish Council members Wayne Landry,
Mike Ginart and Ray Lauga visited several key federal officials to pursue
recovery dollars. While in DC, they met with Sen. Vitter, Sen. Landrieu,
Congressman Melancon, Congressman Anh "Joseph" Cao, Congressman Steve
Scalise, and with top officials from the Corps of Engineers, HUD, USDA, and
Nancy Sutley, Chair for the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
