Parish Presidents Taffaro, Nungesser, Davis and the Southeast Flood
Protection Authority- East travel to Washington DC

 

SFPA-East Commissioners Tim Doody, John Barry, and George Losonsky are
travelling to the nation's capital with the St. Bernard Parish President
Craig Taffaro, Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser and St. Tammany
Parish President Kevin Davis this week in hopes of garnering support for
flood protection issues for the New Orleans metro area. Two main areas of
focus include having the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers be responsible for the
Operations and Maintenance of the storm surge barrier at the Mississippi
River-Gulf Outlet and securing funding to provide storm proofing for pumping
stations in St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parishes as well as hurricane
protection for Slidell.
