[StBernard] Food Pantry Manager Job Opening

The Community Center of St Bernard in Arabi, LA is seeking a
full-time manager for its Mustard Seed Food Pantry. Last year the
Food Pantry distributed more than 250,000 lbs of food to 2,520
low-income households. This is a challenging and rewarding position
that requires a wide range of social, technical and communications
skills. The main responsibilities of this position include:

• Supervise, train and coordinate all part-time staff and
short-term volunteers that assist with the Food Pantry.
• Receive and inventory donated supplies from Second Harvest and
other sources.
• Oversee the distribution of these supplies to clients in
accordance with guidelines as directed by Second Harvest or other
donating agencies.
• Maintain client and program data (including records of donations,
inventory, expenses and client information) both in paper and
electronic database form. Experience with SQL, Microsoft Access or
other database software helpful. Some training provided.
• Prepare all forms and reports required by Second Harvest and
other donors as needed and in acc.
• Conduct intake interviews to enroll new low-income households in
the program.
• Ensure that current clients update their household information
every 6 months to demonstrate their continued eligibility to
participate in the program.
• Advocate and facilitate referrals of Mustard Seed clients to
other local programs that can provide necessary services.
• In partnership with the Executive Director and other Community
Center staff, increase public awareness of the Mustard Seed program.
• In partnership with the Executive Director and other Community
Center staff, encourage inter-organizational partnerships and solicit
donations of goods for distribution from other local and national
agencies.

An ability to speak Spanish as well as a clean driving record and the
ability to drive a 16' box truck would also be helpful, but not
essential.
