ST. BERNARD PARISH FREE HEALTH FAIR & CPR TRAINING

Saturday, June 5, 2010 * Joe Davies School Gymnasium, Meraux

Chalmette Refining, the St. Bernard American Red Cross (St. Bernard
Chapter), and Tulane University School of Medicine have partnered together
to offer a FREE HEALTH FAIR & FREE Adult-CPR and AED training. The Health
Fair is open to both adults and children and will be staffed by volunteer
physicians from the Tulane University School of Medicine, Combined
Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program.

The objectives of this health fair are: (1) to improve access to care by
bridging the community needs determined by participants with the community
health resources available through health care providers (2) to distribute
health educational materials and resources that emphasizes good health
practices as part of risk -reducing therapy for various disease entities,
and (3) to offer direct health services in the form of diagnostic testing,
BP monitoring, child wellness exams, and child safety tips to name a few.

"The more we know about our condition, the better armed we are in fighting
these diseases," says Dr. Princess Dennar, Program Director of the Combined
Medicine-Pediatrics Residency program at Tulane University. "As physicians,
we can only treat those who know they are ill or those who seek to determine
their status. Hence, the first step to a healthier lifestyle is to determine
where you are right now."

The CPR/AED training will be provided by volunteers through the American Red
Cross, and all participants will receive a free gift. Adult-CPR
certification cards will be mailed to participants who meet the
requirements. For more information or to register please contact the
American Red Cross.

"Knowing how to perform CPR and how to use an AED are essential life skills
that everyone needs," according to Melissa Eugene, Executive Director of the
American Red Cross St. Bernard Chapter. "Come to Super CPR Saturday on June
5 and learn how to save a life."

The event is made possible by a grant from the ExxonMobil Foundation.
