St. Bernard President Craig Taffaro to throw the "first pitch" at Val Riess
Park on Saturday, June 12 at 9:45 a.m.

 

St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro, Jr. will throw the "first
pitch" at Val Riess Park on Saturday, June 12 at 9:45 a.m. at the beginning
of the regular summer season. Players and families will gather for the
official start of summer ball when games begin Saturday at the brand new Val
Riess Recreational Complex where teams will play on four fields that
comprise the first phase of the 33-acre facility in the heart of Chalmette.

The phase which was completed at the end of last summer represents the first
$5 million in work for a complex that will have more than $20 million in
construction before it is completed. The completed phase includes four new
baseball fields, a concession stand with a second story scoring facility
that overlooks all the fields and covered seating and shelter pavilions with
fans for visitors.
