Chalmette Refining's Green Team Program Employees Youth of St. Bernard

For the 15th year, Chalmette Refining, in conjunction with the St. Bernard
Career Solutions Center, the St. Bernard Parish School Board, the St.
Bernard Parish Government, and Nunez Community College, is sponsoring the
Green Team Program this summer. ExxonMobil Foundation gave a grant of
$71,000 for this year's summer program.

Each summer young adults are provided a job that directly benefits our
community, as they undertake beautification and reparation projects for the
School Board and the Parish Government. The educational component of this
program is provided by Nunez Community College which offers college level
courses designed to expose the members of the Green Team to new experiences
and ideas.

"We are so grateful to Chalmette Refining for funding the Green Team and
giving these youth a chance to have work experience," says St. Bernard
Parish President, Craig P. Taffaro, Jr.

There are 29 students and 2 supervisors participating in this year's St.
Bernard Green Team. The participating students are aged 16-19. The St.
Bernard Career Solutions Center handled the entire interviewing and hiring
process. The program started June 7 and will run for 8 weeks.

"Chalmette Refining's continued support of the Green Team Project is
commendable and an outstanding benefit to the Community from business, "says
Alice R. Cooney, Site Coordinator for the St. Bernard Business & Career
Solutions Center. "The opportunity for high school students to have summer
jobs is so important. As a member of the Green Team, each individual learns
about work ethics and teamwork. The participants earn money and earn
college credits at Nunez. The Parish Government and the School Board
benefit by having beautification projects completed by the teams. When
summer ends and the students return to school, they have very positive
stories to report to their friends and teachers on their summer experiences.
This is a good thing!"

The Green Team program is also designed to motivate students to return and
complete school.

The ExxonMobil Green Team is currently in place in eight U.S. cities
including: Torrance, California; Chalmette, Louisiana; Clinton, New Jersey;
Paulsboro, New Jersey; Beaumont, Texas; Dallas, Texas; Houston, Texas; and
Arlington, Virginia.

Be on the lookout for crews working throughout St. Bernard Parish and follow
