St. Bernard Parish Oil Spill Mid-Day Update on July 6

St. Bernard Parish President Craig Taffaro dispatched St. Bernard Parish oil
spill operations crews to the Chandeleur Islands yesterday to deploy 7,000
feet of soft absorbent boom and 500 feet of hard oil containment boom around
North Island and New Harbor Island. Additionally, crews deployed 3,000 feet
of soft absorbent boom and 800 feet of hard oil containment boom around
Comfort Island.

Upon confirmation of oil impacting Stone Island yesterday, St. Bernard
Parish operations redirected vessels out of Delacroix to the area to
completely boom the island with hard and absorbent boom.

Operations received confirmation from Air Operations personnel of oil just
east of Freemason Island. Skimming assets were deployed to the area, and
were able to recover 22 barrels of oil/water mix before the operation was
terminated at dusk.
