St. Bernard Salutes America 26th Annual July 4th Celebration

Crowds enjoy music, food and fireworks at Torres Park

More than 3,000 people came together for the St. Bernard Salutes America
26th Annual July 4th Celebration at Torres Park and Community Playground.
The event that began with the annual Patriotic Program of the Ringing of the
Liberty Bell replica sponsored by the St. Bernard Business & Professional
Women's Club, Inc.

After a brief ceremony, all who attended got a chance to pull the ropes that
ring the Bell of Freedom.

Harvey Jesus and Fire entertained visitors on stage, and they were able to
enjoy refreshments and games for the children before the event culminated
with a spectacular 26th Annual Firework & Patriotic Music Medley Show over
Torres Park. Children's activities: rock climbing, space walks, face
painting, balloon sculpting and train rides. Times Picayune's Zippity Zoom
made a guest appearance.



Sponsors for this year's event to date include St. Bernard Parish President
Craig P. Taffaro, Jr., Sheriff Jack Stephens, The Times Picayune, Disabled
Veterans of America, Murphy Oil USA, Arlene and Joseph Meraux Charitable
Foundation, SDT, Domino's Sugar, BBEC, Hydro-Air, CDM, Crewboats, LLC,
Kiwanis Club of St. Bernard, D & J Tauzin Consultants, Gulf Coast Bank &
Trust, Tonry & Ginart Law Firm, Southern End Zone, Southern Earth Sciences,
URG, Glen and Cynthia Gabb and Bonnie Cook. Sponsors are still being
solicited and will be thanked from the Main Stage.

The St. Bernard Parish Events Committee coordinated the event. Anyone who
