While many Louisianians are struggling to get by and pay for this ever-expanding, wasteful Obama government, Charlie Melancon has voted to bail out Wall Street banks, give benefits to illegal aliens, and even used your taxpayer dollars from his congressional office account to lease a luxury SUV. 

Surprise, surprise - now Charlie Melancon is trying to lie his way out of explaining why he's spending your money on his luxury Chevy Tahoe he drove around Washington D.C.

Melancon was quoted in the Baton Rouge Advocate <http://www.kintera.org/TR.asp?a=pvLZLdM1LkKRLjI&s=hsIRI0MEIeLQI5NMJpH&m=6oIFIMPqHgKMK2L>  and the New Orleans Times-Picayune <http://www.kintera.org/TR.asp?a=ieJLISNzFdJEJZK&s=hsIRI0MEIeLQI5NMJpH&m=6oIFIMPqHgKMK2L>  saying, "I have never owned or leased" a vehicle at taxpayer expense.

According to the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives <http://www.kintera.org/TR.asp?a=lhKRI1OLLgILK9J&s=hsIRI0MEIeLQI5NMJpH&m=6oIFIMPqHgKMK2L> , Melancon did, in fact, use taxpayer money from his congressional office funds - on top of his personal salary - to pay for his luxury Chevy Tahoe worth approximately $50,000.

So far, Charlie Melancon has used $41,441 in taxpayer dollars for lease payments, his monthly car insurance, registration fees, and property taxes. That equates to almost $900 EVERY month in taxpayer money for Melancon's personal vehicle.

*	This is in addition to his $174,000 per year salary
