St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro, Jr. gave away more than
$1,500 

at the third annual Christmas Cash Back Program 

 

St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro, Jr. gave away more than
$1,500 at his third annual Christmas Cash Back program in which residents
win cash for doing their holiday shopping in St. Bernard. Shoppers who saved
their retail receipts from local businesses from November 18 through
December 18 got raffle tickets for the cash give-away drawing. Additionally,
guests who bought last minute Christmas gifts at discounted prices from the
vendors at the event's Christmas boutique got more tickets. 

 

The event culminated in Taffaro, who donated the give-away money, pulling
tickets for cash winners and for door prize winners. Taffaro annually holds
the event in conjunction with the St. Bernard Economic Development
Foundation in an attempt to boost holiday retail sales in St. Bernard and
give shoppers an incentive to Shop St. Bernard. 

 

Although early winners won door prizes and smaller cash gifts, Taffaro
pulled the final five tickets and told the group of five they could stay in
the drawing and hope to win $1,000 or divide it five ways. The group
unanimously decided to take $200 a piece.
