St. Bernard sheriff to get Crimestoppers award

St. Bernard Parish Sheriff Jack Stephens will receive an award from
Crimestoppers Inc. at the organization's annual awards luncheon.

Each year, Crimestoppers honors individuals who have helped both
Crimestoppers and the community in the mission of taking criminals off the
streets.

This year's luncheon will be March 17 at the New Orleans Hilton Riverside
Hotel.

Stephens, the parish's sheriff since 1984, will get the organization's
Sheriff Harry Lee Criminal Justice Award, named in honor of Jefferson
Parish's longtime sheriff, who served from 1980 until his death in 2007.

Stephens "has been a wonderful friend and ally to Crimestoppers over the
years," said Darlene Cusanza, the organization's president and CEO.
