If this comes about, half of St. Bernard will be considering what its next
move will become. Katrina wasn't the only disaster that befell da parish.
This is a follow up disaster should this occur unabated.

HUD threatens to cut La.'s recovery dollars over mixed-income apartments
dispute by WWLTV.com wwltv.com Posted on March 17, 2011 at 10:24 PM

CHALMETTE, La. - More threats for St. Bernard Parish, and even the state,
when it comes to federal recovery dollars.

HUD threatened to cut Louisiana's recovery dollars unless the state makes
St. Bernard Parish comply with civil rights laws involving four mixed-income
apartments.
The dispute began in 2005, when the parish halted apartment construction
after Hurricane Katrina. Then an official cease-and-desist order was issued
to the project's developer last month.

Meanwhile residents of the parish continue to file complaints with the Army
Corps of Engineers saying the construction would destroy precious wetlands.
A court hearing is set for March 29.
