The Isleno Fiesta received a $7,500 grant from the Louisiana Tourism Coastal
Coalition to promote the St. Bernard Parish event. The Louisiana Tourism
Coastal Coalition (LTCC) comprised of 10 coastal parishes formed on June 16,
2010 to lead the effort to mitigate tourism losses along the Louisiana
coast. A portion of the BP funds were dedicated to market and promote the
state's nature based tourism products including the support of Louisiana
coastal fairs and festivals. A grant process was implemented to help these
festivals. The Isleno Fiesta's mission is to promote the heritage and
culture of the Canary Islanders, also known as Islenos. The Isleno Fiesta
Committee used the grant to market and to promote the March 2011 festival
outside of a 50-mile radius to increase tourism visitation to St. Bernard.
