ST. BERNARD PARISH GOVERNMENT TO CUT RIBBON FRIDAYAT 4 P.M. AT NEW VISITOR
INFORMATION CENTER AT AYCOCK BARN



Come join St. Bernard Parish Government as it celebrates the grand opening
and ribbon cutting of its new Visitor Information Center at the Aycock Barn
on Friday, May 20 at 4 p.m.



The public is invited to the event Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. that will begin
with the ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. of the parish's first ever Visitor
Information Center. The party is part of the St. Bernard Parish Tourist
Commission's celebration of National Tourism Awareness Week, May 16 to May
21, that included a week of activities at the new center in the Old Arabi
Historic District, 409 Aycock Street, Arabi, LA. Riverbend Bistro will
provide food.



The public is invited to visit St. Bernard's Visitor Center between the
hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and meet the "St. Bernard Faces of
Tourism," enjoy complimentary refreshments, pick up tourist information
about upcoming events, receive free goodies and learn how tourism supports
our local economy.



On Saturday, the St. Bernard Seafood and Farmers Market will open for the
first time from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. After that, the third annual Old Arabi
Sugar Festival will kick off at 11 a.m. on the grounds of the nearby LeBeau
Plantation. The Tourist Commission will again be offering complimentary
tours of Old Arabi during the Sugar Festival from noon until 5 p.m.



Activities from earlier in the week included lunch-time events with
information given on local charter fishing, the Islenos Museum Complex, the
Chalmette National Historic Park, the State Park with local meals offered,
all meant to spread the word about what St. Bernard has to offer visitors
and residents alike.
