Sports Hall of Fame sets golf tournament for 9/11

The St. Bernard Parish Sports Hall of Fame has set its annual golf
tournament for Sunday, September 11 as its main fundraiser to help fullfill
the organization's mission to honor the finest athletes, coaches and sports
personalities that our Parish has produced as well as financially support
the various sports groups in the parish.

SHOF President Dr. Bryan Frichter also recognizes the significant of
the date of the tournament and the group hopes to plan a couple of special
events for not only those brave first-responders who gave their lives
working to save people from the horrible attack upon the people in New York
City and America as well as all first-responders in our Parish.

The 16th annual SBPSHOF golf tournament will be held at Oak Harbor Golf
Course in Slidell with a 1 p.m. tee time. Fee for playing in the event is
$90 per golfer and the group hopes to have nearly 36 foursomes in the event
again this year as the organization continues to be supported by its major

As has been the feature of past tournaments, golfers will enjoy getting
the day started with variety of goodies to snack upon before the 1 p.m.
shotgun start for each foursome whose entry fee includes a golf cart, prizes
and then a delicious evening meal served during the award ceremony.

Golfers will enjoy adult beverages of a variety of kinds and some truly
outstanding prizes to the winners.

Special events will include "Closest to the Hole" event with one grand
prize to the one golfer who has the closest shot on the day. In addition
there will be four $100 Cash Prizes given award for the four Par 3 holes via
a raffle.

The Longest drive winner will receive another great prize that will
probably be valued at nearly $1,000. The third special hole is the Putting
Contest where the winner gets $100, via a raffle.

Finally, as a Parade of Prize winner, golfers will receive an
