St. Bernard Wellness Program completes six-week boot camp

The St. Bernard Parish Government Wellness Program recently completed a
six-week boot camp in which professional trainers took a group of employees
through an intense course of well-structured activities designed to help
employees lose, tone and build muscles and to receive great results with
weight loss success.

The camp was led by three professional trainers of Anytime Fitness Center.
Employees who volunteered to participant in the boot camp came from several
departments: Brooke Albert of Purchasing Department, Lorrie Allen of the
Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, Beth Brewster of
Animal Services, Lenor Duplessis of the President's Office, Cathy Landry of
Animal Services, Amanda Lopez of the Information Technology, Lindsey Puderer
of OEP, Joanna Ragas of the Recovery Department, John Rahaim of OEP, Paula
Robinson of the Wellness Program, Treasure Schwab of the Finance Department
and Lisa Smith in the Grants Department. Additionally, two non government
employees also participated, Zina Ballard and Taylor Schwab. The group has
decided to continue with the program by gathering in the atrium area of the
St. Bernard Parish Government Complex.

The Wellness Program, under the direction of Paula Robinson, also will begin
a program in the fall for employees who are age 50 and above to help keep
that age group in great health as well.

"What a great opportunity for the parish government employees. More and more
employees are seeing the benefits to participating in the Wellness Program,"
Robinson said.

"I am so proud of our employees who made this commitment and saw it through,
despite the hot conditions and physical demands of the program," St. Bernard
Parish President Craig P. Taffaro, Jr. said. "This is just another way St.
Bernard is committed to the welfare of its employees."
