St. Bernard Seafood and Farmers Market is the place to be on Saturdays

Variety of offerings for sale; entertainment and fun children activities

Come to the St. Bernard Seafood and Farmers Market this Saturday to pick up
some items for a delicious meal. This week the Market at 409 Aycock Street
in the heart of the Old Arabi Historic District will feature locally grown
produce and herbs, delicious baked goods, homemade breads, handmade artisan
crafts, and much more!

While you are at the market, enjoy the music of House of Cards from 9 a.m.
to 1 p.m. Also check out the animal adoption area sponsored by St. Bernard
Parish Animal Services. The Market loves children so bring along the little
ones and let them cool down in the outdoor pop-up fountains or take part in
other children's activities.

Each Saturday, the St. Bernard Seafood and Farmers Market provides fresh
food and fresh ideas to help local residents improve their quality of life.
The market has an array of selections to choose from this weekend including
locally grown produce, fresh shrimp, delicious baked goods, jams and pickled
goods, fresh herbs, organic blueberries, homemade pralines, fresh bread, and
much more. Additionally, the Farmers Market features local artisans selling
their handmade original crafts.

Exhibiting at the market this weekend is the Rebuilding Together New Orleans
organization, a continuing volunteer effort to improve the quality of life
of low income homeowners through home repair and revitalization of New
Orleans' neighborhoods. Additionally, the organization will be promoting The
ReUse District, a unique collaboration between nonprofits, businesses and
community organizations whose aim is to increase the appreciation and
accessibility of reused materials in nearby New Orleans neighborhoods.
There's lots of community information available this weekend so come learn
how you can make a difference in your own backyard.

The market will operate every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through
October, rain or shine. It will be geared toward local farmers and fishermen
so they can sell their products to the local community. However, spaces will
be available for local artisans who specialize in handmade arts and crafts.
Those who would like to sell flowers, bedding plants and seeds are welcomed.
Consumers or vendors interested in learning more about the market can email
Market Manager Ashley Proze at market at sbpg.net <mailto:market at sbpg.net> or

be accessed off of St. Claude Avenue by turning south at the signs that say
St. Bernard Visitor Center and Seafood and Farmers Market.
