A novice New Orleans police officer was arrested over the weekend for
domestic battery in St. Bernard Parish.

Marshall Scallan, 33, a third-year patrolman in the 8th District, was
arrested along with his girlfriend, Heather Davis, 21, at about 8 a.m.
Saturday following a dispute, according to a NOPD news release.

The woman called police amid an altercation inside a house in the 2400 block
of Campagna Street in St. Bernard, the release stated.

Investigators found signs of a physical assault on the woman and Scallan and
chose to book both with domestic battery, according to the NOPD.

Scallan, who joined the police force in 2008, was placed on emergency
suspension.

Scallan was released from St. Bernard jail today after posting a $1,500
bond, according to a parish spokesman.
