St. Bernard Parish Animal Services receives $3,000 grant from the ASPCA

St. Bernard Parish Animal Services in Violet announced that it has received
a $3,000 grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to
Animals.

The grant was used to award scholarships to St. Bernard Parish Animal
Control Officers Kyle Menant and Kelly Detillieu so that they could attend a
week-long Level 2 National Animal Control Association Training in Atlanta,
Ga.

The conference covered many topics including constitutional law, search and
seizure, stress management, blood sports, and crime scene documentation.
Training at this level is instrumental in educating the officers and, in
turn, the public becomes more informed, making St. Bernard Parish a safer
place for animals.

"We thank the ASPCA for this opportunity and their continued support in the
rebuilding of St. Bernard Parish. They have been very generous and critical
in helping the animals of the parish," St. Bernard Parish Animal Services
Director Beth Brewster said.
