>From talking with others about the upcoming St. Bernard Elections, here are

a few items I think worthy of consideration.

1) There is talk that many older St. Bernard residents, especially those in
Arabi and Chalmette are upset about the new apartments and will take it out
on Lena Torres for selling the land those apartments are being built on.
This could be the end of the Torres legacy in the Clerk of Court's office.

2) How many people realize that the Sheriff of St. Bernard Parish gets an
automatic appointment to the board of the Meraux Foundation? With the
upcoming election, Jack Stephens will be removed from the board and a
replacement named. It kind of makes you look at the Sheriff's race in a
different light.

-- Putting my partisan hat on for a moment, do you really want Wayne Landry
on the board of the Meraux Foundation? --

3) With all the new schools being built with FEMA money, where is the
population to fill these schools going to come from? Who will be shocked if
they start bussing in students from Orleans Parish to fill those empty
seats?

4) Did you realize the best qualified candidate for Assessor is probably the
one guy you don't want for political reasons?

5) Does Mike Bayham really think he has enough supporters to win Chief
Garbage Collector, much less State Representative?
