Below is the email to members of the St. Bernard Sportsmen's League from the
President:

Dear Members,
Last Thursday the St. Bernard Sportsman's League paid for and released 2500
bream, 500 catfish, 3000 minnows and 10 permitted grass carp into the
renovated pond at Torres Park. We have worked with our parish government
since the latter part of 2010 to develop a healthy pond and we committed to
stocking the ponds. Our goal is to develop quality fishing for the youths
of our community and to bring back our annual kids' fishing rodeo. The fish
stocked were fingerlings and would be a nice size to catch in September
2012, the target date for our rodeo.
On Tuesday after the election, I was contacted about our club assisting in a
kids' rodeo to be held on Sunday, Nov .6. 2011. It is called the Rock N
Fish Rodeo and is put on by our parish government. I told them no and we do
not recommend this rodeo because the fish are to small to catch. The
administration may stock larger fish in the pond for the rodeo and I
expressed concern for the fish we just bought. This rodeo smells fishy to me
since nothing was ever mentioned to me in the numerous email exchanges with
the parish administration prior to our stocking effort. We will keep a
close eye on what happens next.
Joey
