Man dies in Sunday morning St. Bernard car accident

A man died in St. Bernard Parish Sunday morning after he drove off the road
and his car flipped into a canal, state police said. Police investigated the
death of Eduardo Y. Gonzalez-Guzman, 32, of St. Bernard, around 8 a.m. in
the eastbound side of East Judge Perez Drive at Torres Drive, said police
Troop B spokeswoman Melissa Matey.

Investigators believe the four-door Honda was traveling east on Judge Perez
when, for unknown reasons, the Honda left the roadway, flipped over and came
to rest in a canal, she said.
Gonzalez-Guzman was transported to the Interim LSU Public Hospital's trauma
center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators believe he was impaired, and toxicology results are pending,
Matey said.
She said no one was in the car with Gonzalez-Guzman, who was not wearing a
seat belt during the crash.
