St. Bernard Parish Mosquito Control Twin Engine Plane Ready For Service

St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro, Jr. and the Parish Council
announced that the parish now has a twin engine plane to improve mosquito
control coverage. It will be able to spray for mosquitoes more efficiently
and it is allowed, under Federal Aviation Administration rules, to fly over
residential neighborhoods, unlike the parish's current single engine plane
that could only fly over rural areas.

"This is the culmination of a lot of work, and the service to the public
will be vastly improved for all areas of the parish," Taffaro said. "While a
tuck can cover a lot of area, this plane will allow us to efficiently cover
more neighborhoods."

At-Large Councilman Wayne J. Landry said, "I'm glad to see the plane. It
will carry twice as much load and it will be able to travel further than the
single-engine plane."

District A Parish Councilman Ray Lauga said, "It is going to expand our
coverage, and that's going to benefit everyone in St. Bernard."

Test flights will begin immediately. The parish will continue to use its
trucks for spraying as well. For more information about St. Bernard Parish's
