Grand Opening celebrated for $2 million Public Works Main Yard building



Local, state and federal officials gathered to mark the grand opening and
ribbon cutting of the new Public Works Main Yard Administrative Building.



St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro, Jr. praised all the
government partners who worked together on this FEMA-funded project. The
two-story building that will house the Main Yard facilities has almost
8,500-square feet with warehouse, storage space and loading docks on the
first floor and office space, file storage and restrooms on the second
floor.



The building's construction cost about $2 million. The contractor is Boasso
Construction, and the civil and structural engineer is Krebs, Lasalle,
LeMieux Counsultants, Inc. The design architect is Perez APC. Steve Hogg is
the project manager for CDM and Dennis Tauzin has oversight over all
FEMA-funded recovery projects for St. Bernard. Keith LaGrange of the St.
Bernard Parish Department of Public Works is the resident inspector.
President Taffaro thanked everyone including the government employees who
had a role in managing the project including Chief Administrative Officer
Dave Dysart, St. Bernard Parish Recovery Director Michael Dorris, Jr. and
his staff, Public Works Director Kenneth Odinet and his staff as well as
Assistant Public Works Director Louis Pomes.
