Celebrate St Patrick's Day in St Bernard Parish!

The Community Center of St Bernard, in partnership with the Meraux Foundation and Nobles & Greenough School of Dedham, MA will hold a St Patrick's Day Dance at Docville Farm, 5124 E St Bernard Hwy, Violet, on Friday, March 16 from 6:30-9 PM. This family-friendly dance is free to the public, and everyone is invited to attend and enjoy live music performed by Mark and the Pentones.

The St Patrick's Day Dance is the latest in a series of ongoing educational and cultural events held at Docville, and will offer a wonderful evening of music both for the St Bernard community and for visiting student volunteers from Noble & Greenough School. Known for their dedication to leadership and service to others, Nobles students have been volunteering in St Bernard Parish since 2008, and their annual visit is highly anticipated by the many residents that they have helped over the years.

The evening's musical entertainment will be supplied by Mark and the Pentones. The band includes Mark Penton (guitar/vocals), Thomas McDonald (bass/vocals), Eddie Christmas (drums) with special guests Dominick Grillo on saxophone and Ian Smith on Trumpet. Mark Penton's musical styles include blues and funk, with a mix of rock, gospel and soul.

During an extensive career that has spanned more than 3 decades, he has played with such notables as Tom Jones, Eddie Kendricks, Chuck Brown and Phil Flowers, the Brother Martin Stage Band, Jimmy Thibodeaux Mary Ann Redmond in DC, the Atlanta Rhythm Section, Marshall Tucker, Chubbie Checker, The Dream Band, Big Chief Alfred Doucette, Big Chief Bo Dollis and the Wild Magnolias, Smokey Greenwell, Andre Bouvier and Big Al Carson, to name only a few.

The Pentones' St Patrick's Day Dance performance will feature music from their new CD titled "We Only Drink at Work" which was recorded live at the Funky Pirate on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. The St Patrick's Day Dance at Docville Farm will be a great evening of music and dancing, so put on something green and come out and enjoy the fun!
