The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office has issued arrest warrants for 42
drug dealers and officials were scheduled to begin rounding up the suspects
about 6 a.m. Thursday. Most of the subjects are from the Violet area, about
5 miles east of Paris Road.

The Sheriff's Office provided information on Wednesday in an embargoed
announcement pending the anticipated arrests. That announcement stated that
a processing area for bringing arrested subjects would be set up Thursday
morning at the parking lot of the now-abandoned Winn-Dixie supermarket on E.
Judge Perez Drive at Legend Drive in Meraux, just before Violet. After they
are processed, sheriff's officials will put them in vans and take them to
Parish Prison in Chalmette, the announcement anticipating the Thursday
morning arrests stated.

Several law enforcement agencies were expected to assist in the operation,
including the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and State Police.

Steve Cannizaro, the Sheriff's Office spokesman, said that on Thursday
morning the suspects' names would be provided following their arrests.
