Twenty-Six Member Band To Play Patriotic Music at 6:45 PM at the De La Ronde
Oak Grove

The United States Marine Corps Band New Orleans will perform at the
beginning of the December 23rd 1814 Night Skirmish Reenactment on Friday at
the De La Ronde Oak Grove in Chalmette.

The 26-member band will open up the program at 6:45 PM by playing patriotic
music for thirty minutes before living history enthusiasts in period uniform
take the field to recreate the night battle that delayed the British
military's advance on New Orleans in the closing days of the War of 1812.

Both the concert and the battle reenactment are free and open to the public.

"We're honored to have the Marine Corps Band participating in our annual
Battle of New Orleans celebration," said Parish President David Peralta.
"The US Marine Corps Band has a well-deserved reputation as being one of the
finest in the world and it is appropriate that they will help us commemorate
one of America's greatest military victories."

Those wishing to attend the US Marine Corps Band concert and battle
reenactment should catch the free shuttle departing from the Saint Bernard
Parish Visitor Information Center at the Aycock Barn in Arabi (409 Aycock
Street) starting at 6:30 PM.
