State Police investigated a fatal traffic accident Saturday night that
claimed the life of a Chalmette motorcyclist. The truck driver who allegedly
struck the victim was booked into the St. Bernard Parish jail on charges of
negligent homicide and improper turning, according to a State Police news
release.

According to a preliminary investigation, Terry Dunn, 60, of Columbia, Mo.,
was driving a 2011 Kenworth tractor-trailer westbound on LA-46 in the right
lane. As Dunn approached the intersection at Coffee Drive, he entered
partially onto the right shoulder and began making a left turn.

Maxime Daboval Jr., 64, of Chalmette, was riding a 1998 Honda motorcycle
westbound on LA-46 in the left lane. Dunn drove his tractor-trailer into the
path of the motorcycle, authorities said. Daboval struck the tractor-trailer
and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police do not suspect speed or impairment to be factors in the crash, though
toxicology results for both drivers are pending.
