MEMBERS OF THE ST. BERNARD PARISH TOURISM DELEGATION ATTENDS THE LT.
GOVERNOR'S TOURISM SUMMIT

 

Members of the St. Bernard Parish Tourist Commission along with Tourism
Director, Elizabeth "Gidget" McDougall recently attended the Lt. Governor's
Tourism Summit, in Lake Charles, Louisiana.  The summit is an annual
conference where tourism leaders and stakeholders from around the State come
together for Industry meetings, educational and networking opportunities and
to hear the State of the Tourism Industry from Lieutenant Governor, Jay
Dardenne.  The Tourist Commission participated in the Tourism Partner
Showcase Trade Show promoting St. Bernard's upcoming events and attractions
to the statewide Louisiana Travel Counselors who are the frontline workers
at the State Welcome Centers. 

 

The State of Louisiana marketing campaign for 2013 will be the "Year of
Music" and will feature Louisiana artists and the rich diversity of music
that has impacted and left its mark on the music world. The state plans to
use this messaging to increase visitation to the State of Louisiana in the
year 2013. The St. Bernard Tourism Office works closely with the State
participating in cooperative marketing advertising that enable more
affordable tourism opportunities for advertisements.  The Department of
Tourism also works closely with advocacy groups that promote the importance
of the Tourism Industry.  Tourism Director, Gidget McDougall serves on the
Louisiana Tourism Promotion Board which oversees the State's advertising
budget as well as the Board of Directors of Louisiana Travel Promotion
Association and Louisiana Convention and Visitors Bureau.
