Decomposed body unearthed in lower St. Bernard Parish

St. Bernard, La. - The NOPD says a decomposed body has been located in a
wooded area along Florissant Highway near Yscloskey in lower St. Bernard
Parish. 

Investigators had been looking for a person who went missing in New Orleans
last Summer. This all began last Thursday, when detectives went to the scene
with cadaver dogs.

Tuesday, about 20 detectives, assistant coroners, and representatives from
the LSU Forensic Center used digging equipment looking for a body.

They were led there by a tip from a suspect believed to be involved in the
disappearance of a man from New Orleans East in August.

Police say when the body is exhumed, the Orleans Parish coroner will take
custody of the remains and conduct an autopsy to determine the identity and
cause of death.
