[StBernard] Delay ObamaCare

Dear Friends,

Yesterday was Sequester Day - and contrary to what President Obama would
have you believe-the sun still rose and the sky didn't fall.

Despite having to make a less than three percent reduction to the federal
budget, President Obama has deployed his cabinet secretaries to scare the
American people so he can simply raise taxes and take more money out of our
paychecks.

The American people aren't buying it though. They know there is at least
three percent of waste in the federal government's budget. The American
people also learned that despite the so-called sequester cuts, the federal
budget will actually be larger than it was last year. Only in Washington
would that actually be called a cut. They have a math problem in our
nation's capital.

The folks in Washington could take a page out of our playbook in Louisiana
and make government live within its means instead of taking money out of the
private sector economy to grow government.

I proposed to the President that the federal government delay the
implementation of Obamacare. This would save tens of billions of dollars and
delay a program that hasn't started yet instead of cutting programs that
folks currently use.

Not surprisingly, the President didn't like that idea. The President and his
liberal allies, like Senator Mary Landrieu, would rather move ahead with
Obamacare that will cost the taxpayers of Louisiana over a billion dollars.
Senator Landrieu vigorously defended the President's healthcare law this
week arguing that growing government is good for economic development.

I have a fundamental philosophical difference with President Obama and
Senator Landrieu. I believe that you can't grow the economy by taking money
out of the economy. President Obama and Senator Landrieu believe in growing
the government economy and that's why they want to continue with Obamacare
and solve the sequester issue with higher taxes.

We won't stand for it. If we continue to take money out of the private
sector economy, companies won't want to invest and create opportunities for
our people. That may be the way of the federal government, but it's the
exact opposite approach we have taken in Louisiana.

By reducing the size of government's footprint and being fiscally
responsible, we have helped foster an environment where businesses want to
invest and create jobs.

In fact, this week we made yet another exciting job win in Louisiana. South
Louisiana Methanol announced a $1.3 billion investment in a new methanol
production facility. The project will result in more than 430 new direct
and indirect jobs. The South Louisiana Methanol Site will be the largest of
its kind in North America.

In order to continue making announcements like this, we will continue to
pursues policies that encourage businesses investment and job creation.

Sincerely,

Bobby Jindal
