Art in April Festival celebrates a Sweet & Successful 16 years

Sixteen years of Art in April culminated in a grand celebration at Docville
Farm beneath the old oak trees on a beautiful Saturday, April 20th. Families
enjoyed numerous children's activities including marble painting, planting
seeds, wetlands exploration, decorating butterfly wings and participating in
storytelling. Craft and artisan booths displayed unique wares such as hand
painted slates, hand-crafted fine jewelry, framed photography, refinished
furniture, hand lotions, candles and ottomans. Dancers and musicians filled
the big red barn with their laughter and music from ballerinas to sultry
jazz music. Bacon filled sausages, pasta, pralines and drinks were offered
on the patio. And, for the first time, gardening demonstrations were
provided by a local nursery. Pictured above are several committee members
presenting the festival poster's original artwork to the Meraux Foundation
in appreciation for hosting the event. Mrs. Rita Gue returned thanks to the
committee and the community offering the site for many years to come.
