St. Bernard Tourism Plans Outdoor Recreation Campaign, Starts with Community
Meeting

The St. Bernard Parish Office of Tourism is excited to announce the 2013
Outdoor Adventure campaign to expand and promote the range of outdoor
tourism activities available in St. Bernard Parish. Funded by a Gulf
Tourism and Seafood Promotional Fund Award, the project includes non-event
based industry support grants, promotional guides, marketing materials, and
a collective advertising initiative.

The Office of Tourism is seeking stakeholders and partners in the planning
phase of the campaign to attend a meeting scheduled for Monday, May 13th
from 2pm until 4pm at Charlie's Restaurant and Diner on St. Bernard Highway
in Violet. The meeting will focus on the outdoor adventure grant process
and developing a marketing plan for the funding. Potential stakeholders and
applicants may include, but is not limited to, boat launches, bait shops,
charter services, tour guides, lodging facilities, restaurants, and
attractions that offer outdoor activities for tourists.

As part of this process, a limited number of non-event based support grants,
up to $2,500 each, will be awarded to businesses for individual marketing
and promotion, such as advertising placement, brochures, promotional items
or materials, and website development. Award preference will be given for
those businesses promoting a new or non-traditional tourism product, such as
bird watching, ecological or cultural tours, hunting, or seafood industry
(shrimp, crabs, oysters) tours.

Participating stakeholders will be featured through additional tourism
publications and a collective advertising campaign highlighting the amazing
recreational opportunities in St. Bernard Parish. For more information,
please contact the St. Bernard Office of Tourism at 504-278-4242 or by email
