Incoming juniors and seniors can explore four career pathways during a
summer bridge program June 17-28 at Nunez Community

College in Chalmette. Students who successfully complete the program,
offered for free through a Carl Perkins grant, may earn certification.

Reservations are required by calling Gillian McKay at 504-278-6421.

McKay, College and Career Transitions Coordinator at Nunez, said, "The
Career Pathways Summer Bridge Program is designed to provide hands-on
training to high school juniors and seniors in Computer Information Services
(CINS), Process Technology (PTEC), Health Services, and Entrepreneurship."

"The purpose of the bridge program is to allow juniors and seniors to get
real experience in high-wage, high-skill, high-demand career pathways so
they learn about the various industries' demands and expectations, needed
training, and potential salaries in order for them to make more informed
choices for their futures," McKay said.

Students will earn WorkKeys certifications in CINS and PTEC, CPR training
and certification in health sciences, and a Wonderlic Entrepreneurship
Profile from the Entrepreneurship program that will culminate in student
micro-businesses by the camps' end.
