ST. BERNARD PARISH, La. -- Paris Road has reopened and the Chalmette ferry
has resumed servce, nearly four hours after firefighters were called to an
overturned tanker truck and chemical leak.

St. Bernard Parish Fire Chief Thomas Stone said the overturned truck near
Chalmette Refining was leaking a small amount of a "caustic soda."

Paris Road near St. Bernard Highway was closed while crews cleaned up the
leak, and the Chalmette ferry was briefly taken out of service as well
because of the incident. Both have since reopened as of 4 p.m.

No injuries have been reported.
